Dates not for you? Get yourself a group of 6 –10 and we can design it to suit your team.

We will guide you as you cycle the ‘best bits’ of the A2O and make sure you are fully supported with our usual love of good food and a great selection of accommodation.  You can ride as much of the trail as you like and if you are keen, be the first full O2A ascent of the trail (riding the A2O in reverse). Nothing is impossible!

Contrary to many peoples thoughts, our Waitaki Valley has many clear winter days making cycling really enjoyable, you just need some extra layers and good gloves.   We will provide great winter food and hot drinks for your lunch and breaks to keep the energy up.   The skiing/boarding days are planned for the 29th July, 31 July and 2nd August but will be rescheduled within the week if necessary due to the weather. Ski passes will be refunded if cancelled due to weather conditions.

Awakino skifield – Step back in time for an experience of yesteryear!   The field is situated in a sunny, north-facing valley with fantastic views over the Waitaki Valley and Hakataramea. It boasts one and a half high-speed rope tows, queues are unheard of and a busy day means more than 10 people. It is renowned for its deep wind-blown powder, fantastic terrain suiting all abilities, and its pioneering spirit. Amongst all the club fields in New Zealand, Awakino best represents skiing as it first began. It has been described as a timeless place and gliding down amidst the white gulleys and rock towers of Glacier Basin on a good day, with the distant rattle of a rope tow pulley on the ridge above, it feels like just that. There is extensive ski-touring on the ranges just beyond the ski field boundaries and endless untracked powder just waiting to be found.

We will be looked after on the field and overnight in the lodge, by the Waitaki Ski Club.  Remember to bring your dram!

Ohau Ski Feild –  At the intersection of sections 3 and 4 of the A2O Cycle trail lies Ohau Ski Field.  Cradled between the Ohau Range to the west and the Ben Ohau range to the east, it has a reliable snowfall and great snowmaking too.  We love Ohau as its terrain is easy to navigate and provides endless opportunities for off-piste variations.  The mountain caters for all abilities. The double chairlift and the wide flat slopes at the top of the mountain enable most intermediates to cruise down the Boulevard very comfortably. There is some great hiking around the tops for the more adventurous accessing the best powder snow and the views from there are really magnificent and definitely worth the effort.

At the end of a great day in the mountains, there is nothing better than knowing you’re only 20 minutes from a hot spa with a gluhwein in your hand or a cold beer in the bar.  Back to the friendly staff and a warm fire……. oh and the shot ski to celebrate a great days riding!

Mt Cook Heliski – What better way to celebrate the end of a week than heli-skiing at Mt Cook.  This is a wilderness of ancient glaciers, azure lakes, and endless runs – across 6 mountain ranges. Mount Cook Heliski has lines to suit all levels of heli-ski ability – from the exclusive terrain in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park to the shores of Lake Pukaki and the Ben Ohau Range.

We will be professionally guided by Alpine Guides on a 5-run wilderness day.  Their experience will ensure we are totally blown away by the lines and rides we do.  If you want to do more runs and your legs can cope with it this can be arranged on the day.
